Demos…

A few words about public demonstrations of the SCA: we are a historical reenactment group based in the middle ages.

Please help us put our best foot forward by wearing court garb, or your most historically accurate outfits, to best demonstrate the ideals of our group.  If you don’t yet have garb that meets these criteria please feel free to come out dressed neatly in mundane, or modern clothes as many of the public feel uncomfortable approaching someone it a “costume,” so having a “liaison” who can explain what is going on can be a real asset to a demo.

Also bear in mind that not all demos are “open” sometimes they are limited to a certain number of people, time period or type of activity (i.e. Heavy Fighting, or Arts& Sciences) When announced demos will be “general” looking for anyone who is able to attend, or “specific” looking for a set number of people or for a set activity, in this case a contact person will always be listed and they should be contacted prior to the demo if you plan to attend.

The shire currently has two “Demo Kits” which include a banner/table cloth that says “Bring the Middle Ages Alive” and some pamphlets (that should be replenished as needed by that last person to use the kit- we have a copy-card at Staples) As well one kit contains some photos and examples of A&S projects.

Public Demonstrations should be a fun and “polished” way to showcase our unique group, thank you to everyone who volunteers their time!
